Thanks to the generosity of a a few donors, SJSW was able to order a cutting-edge 5-Axis CNC. I have a similar machine at Zao Lab, Tsinghua Shenzhen. Its an amazing machine. And I got used to including its capabilities when I think about what is possible. I’m hoping to use it one projects we are working on with nlocal community organizations. Interns and Fellows will have access to it to explore their idea. And I’m planning on organizing some courses for recent immigrants to come to the studio to learn g-code and how to use the machine. These new skills will no doubt give them an advantage when looking for work. Plus, it doesn’t require being able to speak English!

The machine is being made by BCAMCNC in Shandong, CHINA. My salesman is Mr. PENG. He’s GREAT! Very helpful. 

It should be delivered mid-Auggust. VERY exciting.
